Participants should plan to arrive on the official program start date and depart on the final day of the course. Arrival and departure dates are clearly communicated in advance and are designed to align with accommodation, orientation, and closing activities. Detailed guidance, including recommended arrival times and departure windows, is shared closer to the program start.
This is our fantastic team of Oxford Academics, who are dedicated to looking after you and your well-being during your course, and making sure that you get the most out of your course. There is someone in charge of the whole site, and they have a team of leaders and helpers who will look after groups of students. They are all trained in working with young people. Not only are the pastoral teams around whenever you aren’t in an academic session, some of them are subject specialists in their own right and will bring their expertise to subject-specific workshops to expand your academic experience during your summer school.
Our cultural excursions are designed to immerse participants in the history, traditions, and everyday life of Oxford. During the programme, students take part in guided cultural trips across the city, exploring its rich academic heritage through walking tours and visits to some of Oxford’s most beautiful and historic colleges. These excursions bring centuries of history to life and help students understand Oxford’s unique place in global education. In addition to Oxford-based activities, participants also enjoy a day trip to London, where they experience the cultural, historical, and social landmarks of the UK’s capital. Cultural life is not limited to sightseeing. Students also take part in traditional Oxford-style experiences, including formal or semi-formal college dining, punting on the river, and other social and cultural activities that reflect the character and traditions of Oxford. These experiences are an integral part of the programme and are designed to complement the academic and leadership components of the course.
Each day on the programme is full, engaging, and carefully structured to balance learning, exploration, and social time. The day typically begins with breakfast, followed by a morning tutorial and lecture. After a lunch break, students return for an afternoon tutorial or academic session, allowing time to deepen their understanding through discussion and guided learning. In the early evening, participants take part in cultural excursions or organised activities, after which everyone comes together for dinner. The day usually concludes with after-dinner games, social activities, or group discussions, providing a relaxed and enjoyable end to a busy day. While no two days are exactly the same, the programme is designed to keep students actively engaged from morning to evening, with a varied schedule that combines academics, culture, and community.
